Differences Between Facilitators and Learners in Each Learning Type

Facilitators in Asynchronous Learning
  • Can post materials 24 hours a day, 7 days a week when it is convenient.  No classroom to stand before, or live presentations.
  • Need to develop techniques to know when learners are falling behind or misunderstanding the concepts
  • Are effective at engaging learners by asking thought provoking questions.  Effective funneling techniques.

Learners in Asynchronous Learning
  • This environment is best suited for learners who are less social and more introverted.
  • Need more time for reflection.
  • Have demanding schedules that require education to be very flexible.

Facilitators in Synchronous Learning
  • Have the ability to present the information, field questions and respond to messages in the chat box all at the same time.
  • Have a comfort with live presentations, talking with a microphones and videos.  Enjoy being televised.
  • Masters the skill of the 10 and two strategy, which there is 10 minutes of lecture and two minutes to reflect and ask questions.

Learners in Synchronous Learning
  • This is a perfect environment for learners who are comfortable communicating in a social environment.
  • Synchronous online learning promotes a sense of community between the learners and teachers.
  • Very affordable and flexible.  Can attend from anywhere in the world.
